Week at Filo


Recently, I had the opportunity to take a 4-day trip to Chicago, my birthplace. I flew from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Seattle, and then on to Chicago, where I was excited to spend some time exploring the city, attending the FILO conference, and reconnecting with my roots.


Day 1: Arrival and Sights


After a long day of travel, I arrived in Chicago and was immediately struck by the city's beauty. I decided to spend my first day taking in some of the sights, including the iconic "Bean" in Millennium Park, which was just as stunning as I remembered. I also walked along the lakefront and marveled at the stunning views of Lake Michigan.


Day 2-4: The FILO Conference


For the next three days, I attended the FILO (First In Last Out) conference, which is geared towards production and technical arts in the church. The conference was incredibly informative, with a wide range of sessions and workshops led by industry experts. I learned a lot about new technologies and techniques that I can use in my work as a technologist in the church, and I was also able to connect with other like-minded individuals in the industry.


In between conference sessions, I was able to explore more of Chicago, including some of my favorite neighborhoods like Lincoln Park and Wicker Park. I also indulged in some of the city's famous deep-dish pizza, which was every bit as delicious as I remembered.


On my last night in the city, I met up with some old friends from high school who I hadn't seen in years. We caught up on old times and reminisced about our shared memories of growing up in Chicago.


Final Thoughts


My trip to Chicago was an incredible experience, from reconnecting with my roots to attending the FILO conference to exploring the city's beautiful sights. Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have spent a few days there. If you're planning a trip to the Windy City, I highly recommend checking out some of the city's famous landmarks, neighborhoods, and, of course, the deep-dish pizza.
